Jose F. Cerda has developed a broad set of skills from an 18-year real estate professional career. He began his real estate career originating loans through a national mortgage company; later purchasing, co-owning, and managing a successful real estate franchise and office in the Eastlake area. He listed and sold over 200-residential properties. After the real estate crash, he became a real estate asset manager for a large San Diego public agency. He drafted use permits and leases for public commercial buildings. Subsequently, he pulled double-duty, structuring and offering financing for various nationwide mortgage banks.
Today, he brings a wealth of experience as a real estate broker for CREC. As a native San Diegan, he graduated San Diego State University with a Bachelor and Master of Arts and also earned a Master of Business Administration from Cal State University, San Marcos. Additionally, he holds NMLS and is a licensed California real estate broker.
His life-long hobbies have been local politics volunteering and managing local political campaigns. He ultimately threw his “hat in the ring” and was a candidate for the South Bay Irrigation District, Division 2 where he won an appointment and a year later, defeated his opponent by 62-percent of the vote. He has chaired South Bay Irrigation District in 2018-2019 and now Chairs Communications, Finance, and Consultant committees. He has traveled the state and is highly knowledgeable about special districts, especially water policy at federal, state, and local levels.
Cerda was elected in 2016 as Sweetwater Authority Board Trustee for Chula Vista, Bonita, Lincoln Acres, and National City; and currently represents the great citizens of Division 2 of the South Bay Irrigation District.
