Greg brings a vigorous drive, a penchant for leadership and innovation, and deep and wide insights from law, politics, policy, and regulatory processes to the WeCann team.
Born and raised in Massachusetts, Greg attended Bridgewater State University on a scholarship, majoring in political science and philosophy. Upon graduating with honors in 2011 and ready broaden his horizons academically and experientially, Greg moved to California to pursue a Masters in Public Policy at University of California Irvine. Greg graduated UCI in 2013 and won the multiple awards from the University for his work there, including the creation of a new funding mechanism to renewable energy adoption. The impression Greg left on policy faculty was so strong, he was invited back repeatedly after graduation to teach a seminar to current students on policy analysis and writing.
While attending UCI, Greg volunteered on multiple political campaigns, which gave him even further insight into the political and policy-making process. His passion and knowledge here lead him to a job working on numerous state and local California campaigns handling everything from outreach strategy to maximizing fundraising to policy advisement. It was effectiveness in this latter skill that led him to obtaining a job as a Policy Advisor for a councilmember at the City of Irvine.
After five years in California, Greg decided to return to the East Coast via Washington D.C. to work for one of the largest law firms in the world, Fragomen Worldwide. Greg helped clients navigate the extremely complicated regulatory legal framework of immigration and oversaw a six-member team tasked with handling the complex cases. Greg’s policy writing aptitude was fully utilized in this role as he wrote lengthy application petitions to the federal government advocating on behalf of business migrants.
Always drawn to evolving and intricate policy areas, California’s newly crafted recreational cannabis law brought him back to the West Coast where his skill and knowledge were very much in demand. Joining the WeCann team from the very beginning, Greg has been instrumental in making sense of local and state application processes, managing all facets of application creation, and creating the persuasive and compliant written content those applications need in order to be triumphant. The level of success WeCann has had in California has led Greg to spearhead the expansion of WeCann’s services to Massachusetts and the rest of New England in 2019.
Greg currently live in Massachusetts, and in his spare time, enjoys seeking out all manner of new experiences – whether it’s reading whatever he can get his hands on, trying new local restaurants or breweries, or hiking any of the plethora of mountains New England has to offer.
